Some struggles are worth living for...
My life story: sexual and mental abuse in childhood and youth, fighting cancer, and surviving trauma.
"Wordless" is an autobiographical writing, framed in a framework of raw honesty. A harrowing realistic picture, painted with grief, blood and tears. With the work, the author tries to heal himself, but also to help all those who have experienced the same thing and are still struggling in the shadows of the four-walled prison of their mind.
The interwoven stories over the years seem like woven moments that don't seem to belong here, in the Balkans. A colorful tapestry that begins in 2019 when the author learns that he has cancer. Cancer is like a catalyst for all the pain, secrets and traumas from the past to pour out, as if from Pandora's box. Specifically, six traumas and major scars from the past, hidden in six chests: mental and physical abuse by the kindergarten caregivers and his own grandparents, who cut his tongue with razor blades, abuse by his alcoholic father, sexual abuse from 8 to 10 years by a neighbor, which is actually the biggest trauma in the work and around which all the others cling, and peer physical and mental violence (bullying) in primary and secondary education.
It is time for a work to emerge in these parts of ours that will rise and rise above all the taboos that have kept us under control; to talk about all these things (especially sexual abuse), so that some child, some adult, some social group, can heal. The work is a kind of guide on how to address the traumas that we all hold; advice that it is perfectly okay to talk about it, because through talking and revealing, we heal ourselves.
