Set in a recognizable rural landscape, the action in the novel "Locusts" takes place in a transitional period, when a kind of "cosmization" of the previously barbaric, almost magical world in which the characters of Petre M. Andreevski lived is underway. The novel begins with the chapter titled "Mowing. Time of great changes", announcing the arrival of the new order, in which "a gentleman begins to walk the earth" embodied in the president of the so-called SeReZe and everyone addresses him as "comrade". In addition to the writer's mastery, in "Locusts" the most readable is satire as a procedure by which the author reaches out to ridicule the new government, while ridiculing those who legitimize it, even when its existence is grotesque. Locusts, like the purée, are a symbol that points to the "syndrome of lost and unrecognized identity."
