LITERARY WORK

Supporting a commitment to reading and learning remains the core of the Library, and the quality and quantity of library collections are therefore of paramount importance to users. Promoting literature and the love of reading – recognizing the vital importance of reading as an opportunity to open new horizons, the Library is committed to supporting all users to become lifelong readers. Therefore, aggressive promotion of digital resources is also necessary to ensure users’ access to information, in the forms that are most accessible to them. We support children and youth – we strive to engage parents, educators, and young people in the campaign to raise awareness of the importance of increasing the number of readers and users. We recognize the priorities of efforts to close educational gaps.

PUBLIC SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS

Fostering a healthy democracy. The library is dedicated to building an informed community and providing a neutral ground, where participation in civic life is open to all. The library plays a central role in the city of Skopje and its residential areas. Now, more than ever, the library needs to strengthen democracy through civic engagement in discussions and information exchange. By taking on this role, it will be a step forward, because with it the library will not have to wait for people to come through the door, on the contrary, it will be active on the outside, listening to people's requests and connecting them to library resources, where they are.

CIVIL SOCIETY

Protection of user privacy – The Library respects the need to protect users’ personal information and requests, online access to websites, as well as their status of borrowed books. Respect and acceptance of the entire community – We celebrate and support the diversity of the city of Skopje, in order to ensure that people feel welcome in the Library. We strive to recognize the needs and expectations of each user of the Library and actively support the fight against prejudice, stereotypes and discrimination.

PUBLIC - PRIVATE PARTNERSHIPS

To achieve these ambitious goals, the Library must unite with the public, community, and business organizations to expand its reach through strategic partnerships. The Library’s ability to actively enrich the lives of the City’s residents requires the creation of a cultural organization that encourages action through innovation and experimentation. We form strong partnerships – The Library expands its reach and impact in the community through partnerships with individuals, public and nonprofit organizations, agencies, community groups, educators, and business leaders.
