Book Popularization Department

Organizing program activities for the popularization of books and reading and the affirmation of national literature and the literature of all national units in the country, book promotions, thematic exhibitions, literary readings, literary meetings, exhibitions, presentations, seminars, forums, projections, marking of significant anniversaries, concerts, theater performances, meetings and portraits of established and young authors, organizing literary award competitions and other events, with the aim of enriching the public and cultural life in the city. The City Library organizes the municipal competition "Young Librarians". The competition is held every year in October. Students from all primary schools in Skopje participate. The traditional event "Record-holding reader" is organized by the library. Every member of the City Library "Brakja Miladinovci" has the opportunity to be a record-holding reader. The library awards prizes for the most regular readers and for those who have read the most books during the year. The library organizes debates and conferences that address topics in the field of library science and library activities.
